Whole-Home Renovation with Refined Coastal Character
Coopers

reflections
The Coopers project presented an exciting opportunity to reimagine a family home from the ground up — transforming each level into a more functional, light-filled, and cohesive living environment. The clients sought a comprehensive renovation that balanced everyday family life with generous spaces for entertaining.
On the exterior, a new board and batten base with weathered grey cedar siding above, tied together by a creative roof feature, softens the home's massing while lending it a refined, coastal character. Inside, the first floor was reconfigured to open the kitchen toward the rear yard, creating a natural flow through a new covered porch and raised terrace. Innovative interior door designs encourage movement between spaces while drawing in natural light.
The second floor was redesigned to provide ensuite bedrooms, improved storage, and shed dormers that flood the upper level with natural light. Below grade, a newly finished lower level accommodates a rec room, gym, guest suite, and kitchenette — expanding the home's footprint without altering its outward scale.
At ZTC Architecture, we specialize in whole-home renovations that thoughtfully layer new design over existing structure, creating homes that feel both fresh and deeply familiar.
